Student Synergy Awards WINNERS!!!
On behalf of the Synergy Team I would like to thank all the students who took part in this years' Student Synergy Awards.
The winners of this year's competition are as follows:
First Place: Ultra-therm
Bernard Lawless, Michael Carmody, James Tucker & Stephen Hughes
Ultra-therm is a system that reulates energy usage in domestic heating by using a series of sensors operated by a mail control panel. As occupancy in a room increases so does the room temperature from the energy people omit. If room heat exceeds a set temperature the radiator will stop supplying heat until the preset comfort level is reached. Ultra-therm will minimise fuel bills, energy consumption and benefit the environment.
Second Place: I.L.B
Michael Isichei, Stuart Deveruex & Joseph Kinvi
Interactive Learning Board is an academic software package used in conjunction with a touch screen computer device which includes a number of features that aid the learning process. One such feature being the 'Record Lecture Mode' in which screen activity and the lecturers' voice are recorded in sync, thus enabling playback of the lecture.
Third Place: Magic Magnets
Sinead Ennis & Lindsay Murray
Magic Magnets aims to stop young children from picking up and throwing bowls and cups from their highchairs whilst feeding. This will be achieved by customising magnets which can be attached to a range of baby feeding equipment e.g. bowls, cups etc. All of which are compatible with a removable hygenic highchair table which we will also manufacture.
Special Award: PrimeLife Home Care
Pauline Ussher Mahon, Oisineagh O'Donnell & Aoife Coleman
PrimeLife offers a unique blend of personal home health care and 24 hour monitoring through the use of ambient assisted living technologies and virtual communications. It is our goal to employ competent, caring and well-trained individuals who are responsive to the needs of our patients, their families and the communities we serve.
